The following has been stated: -
•The Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC) has proposed a revised framework to accelerate renewable energy and energy storage deployment, streamline intra-state transmission connectivity and open access, and strengthen grid reliability.
•The framework proposes measures for battery energy storage, rooftop renewable systems, forecasting and scheduling, Renewable Purchase Obligation and Energy Storage Obligation, while balancing consumer protection and distribution licensee viability.
•Stakeholders may submit comments by October 12, 2026, with counter-submissions permitted until October 15, 2026.
